Port of Hamburg is in the works
Check out some screenshots of the current, early stage of the scenery. As we can see it has the same, if not even better standard than previous sceneries that we have come to expect from Thorsten. Bringing out the perfect amount of detail with realistic textures and strategic placement of objects.

What standard? Göteborg put 60 km off (and never fixed)? Well, hopefully, Hamburg will not be placed where Bremerhaven should be.

Hello Zsolt,
I am sorry that you are dissatisfied with my work so far. Unfortunately, it is not always possible to respond to all requests immediately, and by the way, it is not possible for me to spend 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, creating scenery. Even then I have to prioritise. As already mentioned in the release, I am aware of the problem with the offset of some harbours and why this happened. The scenery comes from early VSF times, there was never any talk of NMEA interfaces and real world navigation, or the possibility of implementing it like in VSNG.
Unfortunately, it is not easy to fix this time, because it requires a complete manual repositioning and adjustment of all objects, which is still very time-consuming even in VSNG.
In addition, I had announced that I would publish a new and more accurate map to integrate the Kiel Canal as well as possible. It makes more sense to make everything new and better right away than to correct an old map and have to redo everything later.
Frederikshavn is the last addon for the Baltic Sea, including a few small adjustments. Incidentally, it is also geolocalised, just like my first free addon with Taars and Spodsbjerg. After Hamburg is finished, the Baltic West will be transferred to a new map to close the connection via the Kiel Canal to Hamburg.Maybe you have a little patience and then just check back.

I am dissatisfied with the course of action, not the work. In January 2023, you responded directly to my message reassuring me that an update was in progress. The transfer to a new, better-resolution map so that everything will be placed in their geographically accurate location.
While I understand it takes time; this was two years ago. The reality, however, is that an expansion to the existing – broken – project was released and a new map is being built (and is seemingly in a very advanced state already), while the one with a major flaw is still uncorrected.
Your work is genial, but I disagree with the ethics. My values suggest the flawed item needs to be fixed before launching further projects which does not appear to be the case here.

If I can check in here with my view, we have to remember that we really do not make enough money to spend any significant time, which is needed, on any of these projects. We should be grateful for every add-on even with their flaws. Even if Gothenburg is incorrectly geo-located in this add-on, it is still – by far the best scenery add-on created for this software in my opinion.
If we were to talk about the cost of recreating this scenery, replacing all objects, I would estimate it would take some 250 hours at minimum. We have to remember this scenery has basicly been in development since the early 2010’s. If we take a rough estimated wage, say 30 euros/hour this is a cost of 7500 euros. This is a very rough calculation but it shows how much work has gone into this and that we should be grateful for it’s existance. If there’s any other way we can compensate you, since this is clearly bothering you somewhat, send me an email and we’ll see what we can sort out. 🙂
