Forest experiment in VS-NG
We’ve been experimenting with creating a Norwegian forest in Virtual Sailor and we’re quite happy with the result. Hoping to be able to use these techniques in a future scenery! Let us know your thoughs!

Wow, that looks great!
If you then release a scenery that includes Norway, perhaps even the entirety, so that, for example, the Hurtigruten can follow, that would be amazing and a huge addition to the VSNG.

This sceneries seemed to be a very close approach to nature, very nice made !

Nice work. The game is all about escapism and immersion. Messing around in boats with weather and time of day control delivers that. A walk in the forest would only add to the experience. I would buy that!

Looks awesome! Hopefully, it will grow to a full-blown scenery. 🙂

Is it a simulation or is it a game? The honest answer is, it is whatever you want it to be. I’ve given more time to think about this new woody scenery and I personally believe that it could bring a whole new dimension to VSNG. For example, there are already seagulls so it’s just a hop, skip and jump away from crows, owls and eagles. How about a flyable eagle? Also small boats such as rowing and canoes are closer to the water and thus can be just as interesting as the big stuff given a highly detailled environment in. Loads of scope for that in Norway. A final note. MSFS2020 has mainly aircraft but also boats and vehicles. Why not VSNG?. Please tell me when can we get it?

VS-NG has many powerful features that haven’t been explored enough – it can do pretty much anything, but someone has to visualize it. 🙂
However this, as of now is just an experiment, it does not look as nice from the water – hopefully I can spend some more time exploring what is possible.

Erik,
I’ve got time on my hands at the moment so if you wanted feedback I would be happy to oblige.
I am a Chartered Naval Architect (CEng FRINA) so anything that floats interests me. Having said that, the ability to just walk in the woods also has merit. Send me over a file if you want a second opinion and I’ll give you an honest answer as soon as I can. I’m also very cheap (free!)

The forest is excellent, very realistic. It will be very useful to add to sceneries. I look forward to this soon please. Thanks for your work Erik.
